Maybe I should put this in Hot Deals, but I'm going to go with moderator discretion on this since so many people spend so much time here in MD&G trying to figure out what is the best cell phone deal in the US.

I saw this on BensBargains.Net tonight:
http://www.metropcs.com/metro/static/genericstaticpage.jsp?title=4GLTE

MetroPCS is offering a pre-paid 4G LTE Unlimited Data / Talk / Text Plan for $30 / month in-store only. Includes 250MB of 4G data, unlimited data, talk, and text, and no contract required.

So, yeah, that 250MB limit for LTE data and their limited amount of LTE coverage are the only "gotchas" that I can see. But 250MB is actually a decent amount in my opinion (I personally use about 400MB permonth) and if you live in one of the areas covered by LTE, it seems like a great deal to me..

The phones on the site suck, can you bring your own phone? What carrier is it piggy backing off of ?

I think MetroPCS is using the Sprint network IIRC currently (although they may combine with T-Mobile in the future). It looks like they support some but not all phones via flashing the phone, a complete list can be found here: http://www.metropcs.com/metro/houdinisoft/index.jsp

MetroPCS uses its own network, which is why their coverage is far more limited than any of the national networks. And while they offer LTE, it tends to be REALLY slow.

They're ok if you don't travel much, don't need good data, and are ok with their phone selection. But otherwise, meh.

The same could be said about a land line...

I think T-Mobile's Unlimited Data (5GB full speed) / Unlimited Text / 100 minutes for $30 is a better deal for most people. Plus, much better phones to use that plan with.

This, unless you talk a lot andd don't use that much data.

MetroPCS has it's own network, but coverage is limited. I think they have agreements with Cricket though. Their LTE is slow too, barely 3G speeds from what I have read. They don't have much spectrum.
