Metroid Prime Sales Top Quarter Million...

250,000 copies in a little over a week are awesome numbers. Resident Evil 0 is selling really well too. Just goes to show you Nintendo is working hard to target the older audience finally.
Good but anything less would be dissapointing since it was touted as the title for gamecube this year.
but nintendo has also spent a lot on advertising for this game. would be interesting to see how much exactly, and compare games with sales figures & advertising together.
Well i believe EB alone has sold about 800,000 copies of GTA: Vice City on the first day it came out, pre-orders included. So 250,000 in a week doesn't exactly make MP a megahit, but it's still pretty impressive.
All the places in my hometown were sold out on preorders of Vice City the first day it was available to claim.

I got Metroid Prime the day it came out and I've put about 12 hours on the clock so far...
I can say with relative certainty that it is in my Top 3 games of all time now. It is just so amazing. Everything flows together sooo nicely, the gameplay is awesome and never gets boring, it's challenging, and the attention to detail is the best I've ever seen in a video game.
For example, you can get a thermal and x-ray visor, and EVERYTHING has a detailed heat signature/skeleton. There are tons of little things that are just so cool, like when you can see Samus' face reflect against the visor for a split second when there is a bright flash, when you charge up the ice beam and your gun gets frost all over it, when it's raining and the raindrops only hit against the screen when you're looking up at the sky.
And the lighting, especially when you are in morph ball form is awesome.
If you have a GC and haven't bought this yet,do it... if you don't have a GC, then buy one.

LOL...I rented this game the day it came out and...well...as they say in Soviet Russia, the video game rocked me.
I think maybe people that say othewise are physically handicapped that they can't fully enjoy the game.
.. and Metroid Fusion for GBA also sold 100,000 copies so far in a week too.
It looks like a decent addition, I'm glad the 3d aspect didn't ruin Metroid. Now I just hope that the cartoony Zelda isn't as bad as it sounds.

You know, when I heard that they made it a first person shooter it pissed me off to no end. Regardless, I pre-odered and bought Prime and Fusion on the day they came out just because I'm such a Metroid freak. I'll admit that in the beginning I liked Fusion alot better than Prime just because it was a side scroller and it felt just like Super Metroid (almost). However after spending a few hours last night on Metroid Prime I have to say that I'm hooked. I still don't really like the first person aspect of the game (I actually roll around in the ball just so I can see the game in third person), but it's definately growing on me.
Hopefully if they make a sequel to Prime they decide to make it in third person. I'd probably camp outside EB World till it was released if they did that.
Hmmm.....they could do what Capcom did with Resident Evil and re-release the original Metroid......now that would be friggin cool

Ive never played MP but have played the old Metroid gameboy game and liked that, but have no interest in this one. Never knew what was so great about it.
I don't know what the hype about this game is either, but that's probably because it's not my favorite type of game to play. ::shrug::
