What he said. If they do latch on, just set a power bomb. That will kill the Metroid attached to you and most likely any of it's buddies in the immediate vicinity.

Good luck with Metroid Prime. That is a tough battle for sure. I beat it a few weeks ago and am in the process of playing through again to get a better percentage...

Yeah I've been doing that but they chase you. First time I found out about that I was just jumping along and then I turn around an GAH!!!! The scream comes and then it attached onto me. I got scared.

If you do have to kill one that way, keep moving. They supposedly take a minute to respawn. Don't even bother trying to fight them the normal way...I learned that to my expense the first time I encountered them. I got owned by them and then got owned by MP even worse in my weakened state.
