Just beat the game 100%. Clear time is over 11 hours, with a lot of time spent looking for items. I liked it overall but there are a lot of things I didn't like (and a few specific parts where I wanted to break the disc in half).
Liked
- Main plot (once it got going) and cut-scenes
- Return to third person (mostly)
- Plenty of fan service
- General tone of Samus (the flat voice acting actually grew on me)
- Samus's new moves (dodging, QTE-esque moves, energy/missile recharge)
Disliked
- Awkward control scheme (i.e. when switching to first person in battle is required)
- Several aggravating enemy encounters (mostly due to controls)
- Locked abilities contrivance (and lack of discovering weapons or Chozo statues)
- Samus's backstory and overly emotional responses (I think they went the wrong way with some of her reactions)
- Slow-walk mode (caution: cut-scene ahead!)
For the most part I didn't have too much trouble with the controls. They are not ideal and work against you at times but I was able to adapt to most of the situations. There were a few times, though, when it took me a dozen tries to move forward and these instances were so frustrating that I almost wanted to stop playing. Some of the encounters are unreasonable and poorly designed. The final battle before the credits roll comes to mind.
