metro 2033 voices and weapon sounds cut out

Was playing fine and got to the secret tunnel behind Riga and like right after I went before I went into the bandit den the sounds cut out. I could hear like my revolver cyclinder clicking and music, but voice and gun shots got super quiet.


Searched on google for the issue and found 1 forum that mentioned it but there was no fix listed.

Anyone have this issue?

Since it's a Steam game, do the usual "Verify File Integrity" check.

Not sure what else. Maybe re-install your sound drivers?

Metro 2033 is known for being a fairly glitchy game, although I personally had zero problems with it (for both times I played through it).

already tried both, neither helped.

well i feel dumb...

my subwoofer and center channel speaker cables were unplugged. not sure how that happened as I haven't moved my PC in awhile, although my cabling is pretty bad behind my desk.

I bet it will work now.
