I like it - only have played an hour of it so far - however it's a nice workout for a system... Ten bucks - must buy.

It's pretty thrilling at the beginning, but combat is kinda ridiculous. Enemies spot you way too easily.

You can get Metro 2033 on newegg for $10. I have always wanted ot try out the game. What do you guys think of it?? Worth the price??

If you like post nuclear war types of games, yea, I think Metro2033 is worth $10.

However, the game does have some "quirks", like jerky movement in the game engine, running out of ammo, getting killed a lot,,,,,,,. When your in the "towns", things are compact, and you can easily walk past a door. When your in town, use your compass if you can not find what your looking for.

I will give you one tip, buy as much ammo as you can afford.

Then buy it. For $10, I think your going to get your monies worth.

Keep in mind this is a linear game that is straight through with almost no side quest.

I kept running out of ammo in a certain spot, getting killed by hordes of werewolf looking things, got frustrated, and just stopped playing.

The fire controls and weapons selection controls could have been better, but it is what it is. Example - with the double barrel shotgun, left click fires a barrel, and your alt fire key fires the other barrel. Why cant left click fire both barrels? Its little quirks like the double barrel shotgun that make me ask what the developers were thinking.

Unless you are using just the really crappy weapons ammo shouldn't be a problem. If ammo is being a problem for you still, try using the crossbow that thing is amazing, silent and deadly as hell and you could go retrieve the ammo from the corpse :D

To really get into, get your mind into the setting of the game. Supplies are very rare, most stuff you buy is homemade and ghetto so quality isn't up to par. You're basically just trying to survive so attacking everything or going guns blazing is not the best choice a lot of times.

The minute you find the Volt Driver the game becomes sooo easy, the crossbow is actually a downgrade from that and you get it much later in the game.

Yeah Metro rocks. Have beaten it on multiple playthroughs now. If you like it after the first playthrough try Ranger mode for your second playthrough. You can pretty much kill enemies in one hit on that mode but they can do the same to you. Gives it a real "stealthy/stalker" feel when you know you have to not just run around making noise and wasting ammo and you have to actually be careful this time around...

I stopped playing Metro2033 because of a certain location where I kept running out of ammo and getting killed.

Because of this thread, I will give the game another try. Instead of trying to blast my way through the area, I'll try something else, like try to sneak by those werewolf looking things.

In the past year I have played Metro2033, STALKER, and Fallout 3. So far I am liking Metro the best.

Metro is all about ammo conservation. You can't play it like other FPS where its a "spray and pray". Have to play this one a little differently. Just stock up on ammo at the various "bases" and you should be fine. Grenades come in handy too!

Got the steam cdkey for this free from somewhere but haven't played it yet. I did though just read a hardware review and saw they used this as a benchmark program. Didn't realize it was the current cpu cycle hog out there.

Forget the cpu, this puppy makes the original Crysis look like a cake walk. You need a $10,000.oo rig to max out every setting in full stereoscopic 3d glory.
