I've been wanting to put a fan on the heatsink on my MSI Starforce 816 geforce2 mx for some time now...and a friend recently gave me a fan/heatsink combo that was for a slot-1 processor. I figured I could take of the fan and use it for my vidcard, but it seems that the fan is slightly larger than the vidcard's heatsink. Any ideas on how I can mount this sucka on there so that I can get some cooled-down lovin'? :)

And any ideas on what I can do with this huge heatsink??

Mounting your heatsink... here are my thoughts, after reading a similar idea on some OC site:

Apparently super glue doesn't hurt the chip or heatsink. It doesn't conduct well either, so don't use too much and don't try to use instead of thermal compound. I have a 'super glue pen', that is good for putting 'dots' of super glue on things. So I'd smear thermal grease on the chip, leaving the corners exposed (dry - no thermal grease). Then put dots of super glue (big dots - use enough) in the corners and press and hold the heatsink in place firmly for about 30 seconds.

The downside - it's a biznatch to remove the heatsink. If you try to remove the heatsink and are not careful, you will damage the video card... so be careful if you do this (use a razor blade).

The upside - Your heatsink is firmly mounted.
