Method of cutting an existing 80mm fan hole into a 120mm one...

I've just bought an X-Super Alien case and want to mod the side 80mm and the top exhaust 80mm fan holes into 120mm ones. What's the best way to do this?

search google for fan template. bunch come up. or simply draw a 120mm circle around the 80mm hole. if theres enuph space, go ahead. and after u cut, use the fan as a guide to where u drill the holes. i'd use a dremil. there are blowhole guides all over the net if u need help. its not hard once u get the dremil. a hole saw + drill works too, but thats kinda expensive.

Print one of the templates out first before just cutting with it though. I got a template for an 120mm fan - supposedly a print-and-cut one - printed it out, checked it. It was more like 140mm. After that, I just scanned some fans into the computer, and used a photo editor to make my own templates.

That said, check here for some fan templates. I don't remember if I tried them or not though.

If you're going to be putting in a 120mm fan, you're probably going to use a 120mm fan grille. I used a fan grille as a template for the side intake fans on my server. They worked perfectly and I could do the fan holes as well without lifting the template.

My old man is buying a Dremel with blades on Saturday so I reckon i'll use that as an option. My top panel is also riveted on so im thinking about trying to detach it then mod it so it screws on instead for easy access when cutting the top holes.

Instead of LED fans i've decided on a full set of Titan Aorofoil Aluminium fans to add that touch of class.

Once you throw a fan grille on there it will look great. I cut a 120 mm blowhole in the top of my lian-li and the cd worked perfect as a template (I wish I had a digital camera, I could show you some pics because it turned out nice). It's good to have a fan grille when you cut the fan hole so you can drill the holes for the screws that will hold the fan in place (that sentence sounds a little odd). Anyways, I too used a dremel to cut the hole, and it worked out fine. When it was all said and done and I had a nearly perfect 120 mm hole, and it didn't even take very long.
