Method for sorting tools (as in hammers and screwdrivers)

Is there a standard method for grouping and sorting tools and hardware? Something like the dewey decimal system for books or the way radio shack has its parts sorted into drawers. I think it would be cool if there was a standard method so that you could quickly find the tool you needed in any garage.

They're usually sorted by kind >> size
