Methinks Pale Moon and the new style Google Maps do not mix

I've tried PM with a new profile or my current one with all add-ons disabled, but I get the same result, if I try to zoom in or out for example, the map doesn't render properly.

What I mean with "the new style Google Maps" is the style that I think has been introduced recently - google for a well-known location, then click on its Maps link on the right side of the results page. PM loads the initial map OK seemingly. The navigation controls for this one are mostly in the bottom-right corner of the page.

If I go to maps.google.co.uk instead, I get the older style which works fine in PM (where most of the navigation controls are in the top left corner).

If I load it in IE11 it works fine. I don't have FF installed to test with, but my guess is that PM doesn't have some rendering engine updates in yet (which I guess makes sense as PM is still on version 24.x).

I dont have FF either but waterfox (31.x) seems to have no problems with it. So yeah it seems palemoon has a problem there. Any idea why its way back in 24.x?
I used to use palemoon until i ran into a problem a year or two ago and now waterfox is my go to as it seems to run fasters and is updated quicker.

Version 24 is an ESR (Extended Support Release).

It's the easiest way for Pale Moon reactionaries to fight against the changes that they don't like because I don't think they have the development capability to actually maintain a true fork of Firefox.
