It is out of control. It is a huge problem all across the United States," said Mike Logsdon, unit chief of an intelligence arm of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that collects data on the problem.

The drug, also known as crank, crystal, speed and ice, can be snorted, injected, smoked or swallowed. Within minutes, the user experiences a rush of energy and sense of well-being that can last up to 12 hours. But when it wears off, it leaves a feeling of deep depression and paranoia which makes the user desperate for another dose.

Meth is a HUGE problem here in Portland, Oregon.

If we could erradicate Meth (lol like that's possible) I'm sure the crime rates would plummet.

The only thing lower than a crackhead is a meth addict. Too bad the drug war makes it impossible to help these poor souls.

This stuff is really bad in Iowa...

A city about a hour south of me has implemented a policy that you have to show ID and they have a system set up for every time you buy the cold medicine needed to make it... They're trying to get it into state law...

You can already be busted in my town for "buying precursors to manufacture methamphetamine(s)"...

I dont know how anyone could use meth, just take 1 look at an addict....really sad.

Because it makes you feel like you're superman. The clarity of which you think, the speed of which you can do things and the motivation it gives is enough to make you keep wanting it. I've done it once, and could easily see how someone could be addicted to it -- which is why I'll never do it again.

Why are there so many people willing to try such products? Meth ain't the problem--it's the demand.

Basically, coke heads who can't obtain coke settle for meth, which keeps you up longer and has even worse withdrawel symptoms. People susceptible to stimulant addiction just get hooked and can't get out of the cycle.

Yeah, they just passed a state law here requiring the same. It is REALLY bad in rural areas. My parents live in a county of about 50k people, and it has really been bad -- even business owners and the well to to do getting into it.

they do the same thing here in oklahoma...my county had one of the highest meth production rates per capita in the state a couple of years ago...drug taskforce has thinned it out but its still bad...they were busting 3 meth labs a week in a county of 20,000 people...

oh yeah. me and meth go way back. good times....

honestly, I never had a problem stopping (but I didn't do it daily). It wasn't one of those "do it once and your an addict" deals for me, but it was very fun :)
