Damnit, i was at a lake far away from the city last night, saw more stars than i have ever seen and tonight is the meteor shower? WTF.
On a bright note i did see alot of shooting stars.
If you saw a lot of shooting stars, that WAS the meteor shower. That's what it looks like.

So, why are they saying that this year's Perseid is going to be better than other years? Anyone know?

There was a different "meteor current" that was most active a couple of days ago. This was a strand the comet "produced" in its last visit.

Should be about peak now. Going to go outside with my camera and see if I can get anything.. doubtful though.

I went out to the observatory last night with my cameras, binoculars, scope, etc. I was out there until about 2AM, and I saw quite a number of them, and many persisted for upwards of 5 seconds. The frequency wasn't near what I was expecting, but it was a good time. I showed quite a number of people all the globular clusters in the Milky Way, and hearing their reactions after seeing something like that for the first time is always fun.
