What can I say guys, I really enjoyed this documentary. I'm a pretty passive Metallica fan these days, but I was deffinitely into them during the Black album days.
Anyways, I walked way from this movie talking to Kristin on my cell saying, " its a triumph..", after she asked me what I thought. And what I ment by that was, the movie has so much to take away from it, that even a person who has absolutely no interest in Metallica would enjoy it. Not because of the arguments (although certainly great), but because they overcame. There were so many obsticals, so many hurdles that would have just trash some other bands, you know? It was just interesting to see Metallica, the single most successful and powerful (IE: influence) metal band start to unravel and fall apart before the cameras......doubt themselves all together....only to stand back up screaming "bring it!" and rock on.
It just really impressed me how true and honest they were with everything that was going on. This isnt F 9/11. There is no "omg, did this really happen?!" or "OMGWTF! James never got up and left the group for 6 months w/o saying a word to anyone!". No, its all already happened, and we all (the fans) knew about it already. It was just a chance for us to really see it now.
Oh and BTW....was I the only one blown away when they showed Twiggy Rameirez trying out to be their new bass player?
Your thoughts ...GO!
