What can I say guys, I really enjoyed this documentary. I'm a pretty passive Metallica fan these days, but I was deffinitely into them during the Black album days.

Anyways, I walked way from this movie talking to Kristin on my cell saying, " its a triumph..", after she asked me what I thought. And what I ment by that was, the movie has so much to take away from it, that even a person who has absolutely no interest in Metallica would enjoy it. Not because of the arguments (although certainly great), but because they overcame. There were so many obsticals, so many hurdles that would have just trash some other bands, you know? It was just interesting to see Metallica, the single most successful and powerful (IE: influence) metal band start to unravel and fall apart before the cameras......doubt themselves all together....only to stand back up screaming "bring it!" and rock on.

It just really impressed me how true and honest they were with everything that was going on. This isnt F 9/11. There is no "omg, did this really happen?!" or "OMGWTF! James never got up and left the group for 6 months w/o saying a word to anyone!". No, its all already happened, and we all (the fans) knew about it already. It was just a chance for us to really see it now.

Oh and BTW....was I the only one blown away when they showed Twiggy Rameirez trying out to be their new bass player? :p

Your thoughts ...GO!

No offense warcrow, but most people act differently when they know they are being filmed IMO :)

No offense taken, sir. But, they had 2 segments in the film where they were really thinking about just turning the camera off. So, I think behind all the troubles that were going on, their additudes were 90% or more authentic. I could be wrong though.....it was just my impression.

I hate Metallica.
Like their old stuff - hate them - hate their new stuff and I refuse to give them any money for anything even remotely new.

this incesent whining is getting tired. if you don't like the band don't post in the thread.

i'll be seeing this as soon as a theatre near here shows it.

Would have been better if you died on the toilet yanking it before posting.

Have you checked out "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica" yet? Yeah, it's old, but goes over the recording of the black album.
It also makes me think that Bob Rock is the worst thing ever to happen to them.

Bob Rock was responsible for pretty much the best Rock/Metal album ever, so I wouldn't say that. But I don't understand how he went from creating that masterpiece (seriously; even if you dont like Metallica the album is hard to hate.. I don't know ANYONE who doesn't like Enter Sandman) to letting some of their other stuff be so unrefined.

I just got the new SKOM EP and the Remix RULES, it's so much better than the original.. probably makes it the best song from St. Anger in my opinion after that. They turned the Snare way down and upped some other drums that kickass.
