What do you think? Did you like Metallica better before the Black Album (...and Justice for All and earlier)? or Black album and later???

I personally think ...and Justice for All was a masterpiece along with Master of Puppets, but even though some of the Black album and later songs are OK, they just don't seem as "composed" and "orchestrated"...

just my opinion....
 
Pre-black album definately.

I'll never forget watching them play right after the 'Ride The Lightning LP' came out. Heck they were still relatively unknown that year.

I knew they were going places.

The stuff after Justice is pretty good stuff....but it just aint what I grew up with.

I also saw them live before Cliff Burton died. Had no idea at the time they'd be so big...at the time they were just "underground" metal.


 
I love all of it. The pre-Black albums were faster and harded, but the later stuff seemed to convey more emotion and feeling.

Anyway Metallica > *.bands
 
imho definitely Justice and before, although even the Black Album was pretty good imho. I think the problem is that people got so used to Metallica playing thrash metal that when they came out with Load/Re-Load nobody knew what to think.

I really hope the new album coming out this summer is good ... After hearing the track they did with that rap artist though, I'm worried. Although initial reviews from journalists say that they've returned to their roots and that this new album makes the Black Album, Load, and Reload disappear.

I voted, "Yes. "...and Justice for All" and earlier are the best Metallica recordings." 🙂
 
before. I really liek the black album tho. but everything after it was not so good. my roomate agrees. both LONG time metallica fans

and the album comming out this summer is supposed to be good laso. I dles a bunc of teh songs off kazaa just to hear them. most were really crappy recordings but from what you could heare it sounded really good and hard

The infamous Black cover album with the snake on the Cover. Sometimes called Metallica - Metallica, or Metallica - The Black Album, or just Black.

My opinion, they were definitely amazing pre-black. Anesthesia is one of my favorite songs 🙂

self-titled. with enter sandman, sad but true, nothing else matters, etc.

as for me, i like earlier metrallica better, but i can still listen to all their cds from start to finish and enjoy every song.
