Metallica & Godsmack - ~$136 for two tickets... Worth it?

I just found out that Metallica & Godsmack will be in Portland in mid March. Apparently tickets have been on sale for 3 months, guess that's what I get for never listening to the radio.

Anyway, tickets are still available & two runs about $136.

I want to do it, but that's quite a bit of money (especially when I just found out I'll be getting laid off in a few months)...

Anybody been to one of these tour stops? How was it?

For me no, just b/c the trade off of what the money could get me otherwise (prostitutes and coke) isn't worth the benefit of attending the concert. BTW, just kidding about the coke. :p

It also depends on how financially well off you are. Usually Kenny G could charge those prices but he has a large "rich old fart" fan base.

Maybe donate the money to charity instead... it will make you feel all warm inside.

Seen them both, Metallica is damn good, Godsmack is ok. If it is only these two bands, then I will pass, it is the summer sanitarium tour, then hell yeah!

I love Godsmack and I really like Metallica. (Well, up until their recent two albums.)
But I agree with Mallow. I can think of many other ways that I'd rather spend $136 (which doesn't include parking, refreshments, dinner, etc...)

But then again, I'm 35 and have been to enough (more than I can count) concerts in my lifetime. :)

Perhaps, but this is the only time in my memory (Read: Since I would have cared to notice) that Metallica will be within a reasonable distance.

I would like to see Metallica at some point in my life, but I couldn't justify paying much to see them because I'm not a big fan. I've seen Godsmack, and they put on a good show...but I don't really care at all for their music.

Saw Metallica in Columbus, OH on the Summer Sanitarium tour. They were ridiculously awesome. It's really something special when just about everyone in the stadium is singing every word to every song. $68 a piece is a damn bargain, considering my tickets last year were $92 each.

yes, but the SS tour is a bit bigger than just Metallica, Godsmack, and probably some other no-name band.

136 for two tickets to a Metallica concert? Maybe 15 years ago. Not today. (no opinion on Godsmack)

They'll be here in Omaha in May (same set, Metallica and Godsmack), $50 something for seat, $70 something for floor (floor sold out really fast). I decided not to go, $50 something is wayyyy too much money for crappy songs.

It's only worth it if Metallica agrees in writing not to play any of their songs from the black album on. Then it would be worth it.

Big arena concerts suck. Not worth it. Rent the DVD when it comes out.

Yeah if you can afford it. Keep in mind that they will be playing a lot of their older tunes and there is nobody out there today that has any material that is as good and powerful as those songs. If you miss it now you might not ever have another chance to see it again.

How the hell did you manage to find two for the floor ViperGTS? I'm assuming that's what you're looking at based on the price. I checked Ticketmaster a few days ago and they were long gone.

Those aren't floor tickets, they're 200's level seats.

That's with all the ticketmaster crap tacked on, I suppose I could go to the Rose Quarter & get them for their $110 face value.
