fade to black, but it was close for me... I was judging on writing (I don't mean lyrics) creativity.

Who voted for Nothing Else Matters, cuz I'm going to punch you in the head, and maybe knock some common sense into you

save some for me!

Fade to Black is probably one of the top 5 best metallica songs evar! (tied with One and Call of Ktulu, and...well a whole bunch of 'em!)

Will do, notice how the 3 people who voted for Nothing Else Matters won't post there reasons for it. At least they could man up and say why they like it better, maybe they will have a convincing plea

I think they're tied really. Both songs have execellent gituar solos...etc. I know I couldn't make a decision as to which one is truly better.

Nothing Else MAtters seems to have more heartfelt and meaningful lyrics. So I choose it.

One can only wonder how many power ballads were inspired by Fade to Black. The guitar at the beginning - so reflective and serene. It has the same type of influence and inspirational effect on musicians as a song like Stairway to Heaven. You just have to respect certain tunes for their greatness man!

Obligatory FTB lyrics...

Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free

Things are not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can?t be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he?s gone

No one but me can save myself, but it?s too late
Now I can?t think, think why I should even try

Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye
