"These results mark the first use of a new strategy for metallic glass fabrication and we believe we can use it to make glass that will be even stronger and more tough," said Ritchie. "Because of the high bulk-to-shear modulus ratio of palladium-containing material, the energy needed to form shear bands is much lower than the energy required to turn these shear bands into cracks. The result is that glass undergoes extensive plasticity in response to stress, allowing it to bend rather than crack."

But, cases and covers for phones are a big money maker. 2 cents of plastic, 34.99 retail. :p

Sounds good. Two questions
1) Will it make my North American Palladium, Ltd stock go up?

2) Will the touch screen work with gloves on?

Isn't palladium like mainly mined from very small parts of Africa?

According to wiki, Russia is the top producer of palladium (44%), followed by S Africa (40%).

Maybe palladium is the new diamonds? ;) Coming soon to a theater near you: Blood Palladium!

I may have missed something, but nowhere in the (journal) article does it imply that the glass is transparent. This may not be applicable for any of the things discussed here or in the DailyTech comments.
