Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection question

With all the hype surrounding the MGS4 release, I thought I'd read up on all of the previous games. I used to own them all, but sold MGS and MGS2 shortly after MGS3 was released. I've been reading about the differences between the later releases of the games (Substance and Subsistence) and thought about purchasing them. I see that there is, or was, a set released, MGS: TEC. Is the version of MGS3 in that set the same as the MGS3:Subsistence with the improved camera views?

Also, how much nicer does MGS:The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube look compared to the original MGS?

IIRC The Collection MGS3 has the improved cameras, but it doesn't include the original Metal Gear games.

Okay, thanks, all.

So, besides the upgraded graphics on the GC version of MGS and the lack of the second disc with the MGS3, is there anything else that's missing?

It really is an amazing game. Not sure I would agree with the latter sentiment though.

I played MGS3: Subsistance for the first time last year (after holding on to it for over a year) and I was blown away on several levels. I dont want to say anything about it because I'm afraid I'll spoil something.

Some of the best boss fights ever.

Can you play these games without using stealth? I am more of a mindless slaughter kind of guy when it comes to my shooters.

You can play MGS4 without stealth. Don't know about the ones before because I played them a while ago. There needs to be a minimal use of stealth somewhere (basically, walk slow and avoid enemies). None of that splinter cell bullcrap.

Try playing on Big Boss Extreme... You have to be smart about your movements and how you make them, enemies are very very aware and smart. You move behind a box, they surround you, you run into a building, they cover every window and entrance, you sleep one of them in sight of another within 50 yards, 10 come around a corner. You are 100 yards away and knock a can over, guards hear you and chase the sound.

Trying to beat the entire game without alerting once, under 5 hours, not killing anyone (even bosses), and without any of them invis items is extremely hard.

You have to use some stealth but I'm not that good at it. I'm playing MSG3 right now and I suck at sneaking around. When I get discovered, I switch to my knife and start stabbing everyone. I playing on the easiest setting so I'm like superman and can take insane bullet damage. I just go Rambo on everyone.

Sounds like a nice challenge, but I don't have to the time to replay it all again, especially not under 5 hours.

+1 for Kojima, though. helluva game.
