I have been a "Dream Theater" fan for a loooooooonng time.

Just so much talent, every album is different. I have enjoyed every single album they have produced. Some better than others but all have some moments that give me "the rush"

Do yourselves a favor and check out "Live at the Budokan"

Just and awesome display of musical mastery.

Lots of good stuff in this thread, brings me back.

Haven't seen any ANTHRAX??

Another superb band!

Opinions of good metal vs bad metal are always. In anycase I am assuming this thread is just to put down the bands that we like which aren't mainstream.

As I lay Dying

Devildriver

Devildriver sucks so hard it's not even funny.

I can't believe this thread is so long and no one has mentioned Opeth! A lot of the bands I've mentioned are popular but far from being mainstream.

Iced Earth

Opeth

King's X (more hard rock than metal, but they still kick ass)

Dark Tranquility

Arch Enemy

that opeth song sure kicks asz

how DOES he do that death metal voice. i've been practicing but doesn't have that low grunting growl

Read all about it... IN THE BOOK OF HEAVY METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I farkin love Dream Evil!!!!!

Ha they aren't that bad at all.

They rock, as long as you don't see them. The video for The Book of Heavy Metal is quite possibly the worst and cheesiest video I have ever seen. But damn that song kicks ass!

nightwish

Wow, Nightwish is pretty damn good. First time I've listened to them

then you might like epica, within temptation, and after forever. funny thing is nightwish is the only gothic metal i don't really like as much as the other bands. it sounds too power metal

So am I the only one who doesn't like Iced Earth's new vocalist? I'm sure he was great in Judas Priest but Matt Barlow just fit their music so much better.

I thought The Glorious Burden kicked ass. I saw them at the House of Blues in New Orleans, and they rocked the place.

I've only listend to TGB a few times but I just can't get into it. I loved all of their previous albums, especially Something Wicked, but this stuff just doesn't click.
