Haven't people been saying this for the last 30 years, and yet nothing has really happened?Probably for the best. If the warning signs are any indication, the system could collapse by that point. You're looking at a whole lot of issues over the next 30 years. Education gap widening between Americans and the rest of the world, Dollar potentially losing it's reserve currency status, possible hyper inflation, elite running government directly, automation and AI completely redefining capitalism and economics etc. In any case it seems unlikely the system of slashing taxes/increased spending and more borrowing can be continued forever. Could be a pretty bumpy ride.

Doesn't America always come out on top?
they got years worth of back pay all at once.
As they should. They were disabled and (if they were honest) not working when they first applied, and then had to appeal/prove their case (since basically everyone is denied the first time).
I worked for social security for a while - what's even more amazing is seeing the people who were denied, lawyer up and win their appeal - they then get a check (or did when I worked there) for back pay all the way back to when they were first deemed eligible...I saw some absolutely ridiculous checks being sent for people who had been denied for years then determined eligible - they got years worth of back pay all at once.
I was at Social Security and overheard a dad putting all three of his kids ages 4 to 7 on SSI. Supposedly thats possible? How is that even possible?

A lot of the folk I know who are on SSI are really pissed off about Mexicans getting welfare so at least you have that in common.
I recently took an uncle who doesn't drive to our local social security office so he could discuss an issue. I was thinking that there was going to be a bunch of oldsters sitting around whining about their aches and pains. Wow, was I wrong! There was a mix of many groups that knew each other. It appeared that some were from India and maybe west Africa. I would guess that the average age was 25. What made me uncomfortable was the attitude- some of the people seemed to give the impression that when you move to America that this is the first place you hit up.
Did you misread my earlier posts, or not understand the context?Glad your doing something to help them.
Most of the people I know on SSI have serious problems. You should know that.
Every single incentive scheme ever made or implemented has fraud and abuse.
Doesnt mean some people dont need it.
You should know that.
Being fat is another reason you can get SSI. I know of another guy who collects because he is too fat to work. Granted it's not a lot of money.
How much do you need to be over weight to collect?
glad it's funny to you
wow, you got that I'm asking for pity from that? is your EQ around 20?Are we supposed to feel sorry for you because you're choosing to be a martyr? If you qualify for a program, apply. Irrational behavior just makes the whole system less efficient.
But... But... But...wow, you got that I'm asking for pity from that? is your EQ around 20?
Since you have zero social skills my point is we ALL have pains and problems in our lives, doesn't mean we all need to turn them into disability and mooch off our system. Welcome to the zero sum game that is life now people get to work.
Too fat to work? why is that a problem now and wasn't 50 years ago? cause people can't put down the bacon? Not a valid excuse, get on a treadmill, eat a salad and again get back to work, that is what makes our system less efficient.
I have a right to eat what I want!But... But... But...
The system owes me!![]()
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money.
Margaret Thatcher
This guy is in his late 30s.
He's on SSI because he has high blood pressure. I've never heard such a thing! He gets $900 a month and lives with his mother. It's not much money, and I don't know how he survives.
But Damn. $900 bones for doing nothing.![]()
