Messing with a scammer

My GF got hit by a scammer while she was applying for internships on Craigslist.

It's pretty much the same scam and she's gotten to the point where she was "sent a check." She Googled this and found out it was a scam. Then she gave me permission to start screwing with the guy using her email. How to proceed?

Damn too bad there's no P-p-p-powerbook or any product involved that I need to ship =[

I would suggest shipping a package that goes ka-blooey, but that would be mean and violate about two dozen federal and international laws.

Still, a nice "Fuck off" letter in the mail with no return address is good.

The scammer probably does not have much money so I would keep asking him to send checks. He will lose a little on postage. But beyond that mostly it is a waste of time.

LOL, tell them you've been having problems with mail theft and want it sent with signature confirmation.

Depends on how much personal info your gf had already given before discovering the ruse. If she gave a school and town, I'd probably watch out for some brothers in the back of a pickup.

Send them a Fedex Package of monopoly money for even more then they asked for and email them back with the amount.

Scammers send out 1 million emails. It costs them nothing & very little time. Of the 100 people that reply, 90 are screwing with them and 10 are dumb. Getting the money from those 10 is a pretty good rate of return for very little work. Now, if all million people would just start responding to the scammers every time, it would become impossible for them to succeed.

But the biggest concern is how much information did she send them.

If nothing too much, my favorite retaliation from that site was to convince them you need to mail them something and send it cod. Send them useless junk, make real sure it can?t be fixed. Keep it in line with reasonable shipping costs of whatever they agree to receive so they actually pay for it and it doesn?t get returned.

My favorite that I read there was a guy sent some busted up appliances cod.

Send old tuna in an opaque plastic container. That'll keep the smell in until he opens it.

Find pictures of faked currency. Print them out. Then send them thru a strip-cut shredder, bag it in a gallon zip-lock bag, and send it to them.
