Do employers have the ability to track or read messages we sent via MSN messengers, Yahoo messengers, etc? I know if we are using Microsoft Outlook, they can easily track our emails but what if we are using Yahoo or Hotmail? If I use MSN messenger and have a video conferencing session, can they see everything? Thanks! Real curious and careful here... ehehhe!

It depends. But basically if they want to put the effort into it they can see anything you do on one of their computers.

There are programs that will allow your employer (or anyone else who manages to install it for that matter) to see your actual desktop screen and watch everything you are doing. So theoretically yes it's possible for them to see anything and everything that you do.

Realistically though, assuming you work in a rather large company where they can't spy on everyone 24/7, there are programs that can log instant messaging and email, but video conferencing, etc, most likely not.

But as a general rule of thumb -- if you don't want your employer to see it, don't do it at work.

Yeah, the network admin can use snooping tools and see everything you're doing as it passes through the network. However the average dumb ass boss wouldn't know how to do that.

if you are on the network, anything you do can be captured and watched.
the could set it up to watch you in real time or just save it for later...
