I just started getting these pop ups from messenger system. I dont think its a part msn messenger but they keep poping up every few minutes. It look like some ad thing and i was wondering how u disable or elminate this problem?

If your system's getting those, your security measures need an overhaul immediately  Are you using WindowsXP? If so, enable the Internet Connection Firewall right away. Start > Control Panel > Network & Internet Connections > Network Connections. Now right-click your network connections, choose Properties, hit the Advanced tab, and enable the firewall on each connection.

If you get lost, consult Windows Help on the Start menu and search for "Firewall." If you're not using Windows XP, then get some other firewall software installed, such as free ZoneAlarm.

Next, order up a budget router (assuming you have a broadband internet connection). Linksys BEFSR41, D-Link DI-604, Netgear RP614, those would be fine. More info about routers and how they protect you.

After that, get some current antivirus software installed, trialware at least, update it, and scan for viruses. Get Microsoft AntiSpyware beta and scan for spyware.

Once you're clean, update your computer at Windows Update and keep going back until it comes up clean there too.

Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> Messenger -> Stop

You're right, it's not part of MSN.

Considering it's not MSN causing the problem don't run what Budman just stated. It's not MSN Messenger causing the problem but Messenger service that hopejr stated.

I have often thought there ought to be a separate forum for "is my buying list O.K.?" - but then I guess no one would go there to give advice.
