Messenger Config. Problem - Password

Feisters

Senior member
Messenger has all of the sudden started asking me for my password when I send mail. I've always had "Remember password" checked, and I still do. I can still receive mail without having to enter my password. I've cycled the check box, but no go. It worked just fine before. Any ideas? TIA.

that's the first time I heard that Messenger will require password for outbound emails.. did you fill in the correct user name in the SMTP user name? and did you happen to select SSL for the outbound email?

Yup. User name is correct and SSL is not selected. I haven't changed a thing. Come to think of it, Messenger doesn't require a password to send mail. Does it? Maybe it's my ISP doing the asking.

maybe it's time to ask your ISP..

come to think of it, if it's true that your ISP requires password to send email, then messenger will not work for you anymore.. but This is the first time I ever meet such problem.. who's your ISP?

My ISP is Telocity. A check of their web site indicates they've just done a major upgrade of their mail services. I'll give them a call. And messenger still works just fine both ways. I'm just being asked for a password to send. I might try Outlook Express too to see what happens.
