Messed up. MBR is corrupt

I was stupid enough to delete a linux partition which messed up grub. I was able to boot by using a USB grub disk. Then I was stupider to merge the partitions and create a dynamic disk in vista. I think my MBR is corrupt and I can't boot. My DVD drive is dead. Any options apart from getting another DVD drive? I have a 16GB USB if that's of any help. I have another macbook (with dead DVD drive) which has osx ubuntu and xp.
Help!

I got it to boot to Ubuntu from USB. Is there anyway to use Gparted to fix the windows MBR?

Nope it doesn't work. I guess I'll have to take the computer to a friend's house. I don't want to buy a DVD drive that I hardly ever use.

The issue is the GRUB controls the disk. If you can boot to a XP or Vista bootable floppy, running fdisk /mbr may fix it also. Is Vista still an option in GRUB?

First time I booted into the live ubuntu CD I had the option of installing on the the vista partition making another partition. My 2nd partition wasn't recognized. However the partition was never created and in hanged. Now whenever I try to go into the installer it says I will have to format the whole disk. However I can still see my vista partition with data I unfortunately have no backup of.

After I deleted the linux partition; I used the supergrub USB to boot. I was able to boot to !WIN!. But then after booting windows; I stupidly decided to create a dynamic disk after which I couldn't boot from supergrub. Then I tried the Ubuntu live CD(USB) but since it asks me to format the whole disk to install (with grub) there isn't any point. I guess it's easier to take it the the friends house. If you have any suggestions do say; I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the help.
