Message when running 3d apps: Beta DirectDraw expired, Please Update....?

I get this little box often several times when running a 3d game or application:

I have a Geforce 3 (hercules prophet III) with latest drivers, DX 8.1. seemed to start happening after I ran this dumb little emulator for a game :/ any solutions or tips?

The beta DX drivers you installed expired, which is why I never use any leaked, beta release of DirectX. Just go over to Microsoft's site and download the latest DX8.1. Lucky for you that they finally released the official version, otherwise these beta drivers are extremely difficult to remove without a reformat.
