message from windows??

all i know is that i got this "warning" message ...the title says Messenger Service, (it's one of those boxes that has the Ok, and Cancel buttons, only this has just the Ok button)

anyhow, the message is talking about me needing a patch, it says all Windows OS are "affected" except for Millennium Edition.

it has a url at the bottom : www.windows-patch.info

says i should go there....i'm VERY VERY RELUCTANT

i have no idea how it got through unless it really is authentic, because i scanned my computer and i had no viruses, i used spybot to see if i had any spywares....none of that...just a handfull of cookies.

so my question is....have any of you seen this?? is it a scam?? i think it is....but i wanna make sure, and i wanna warn others out there!

It is Spam. Disable Windows Messenger service.

Start -> Run -> services.msc

Scroll down to Messenger, properties, disable.

i am on a router, this is not the main computer.

in either case, those messages keeps on coming through, i thought it was because i installed something called spybot search & destory 1.2 , cuz it started happening after i installed that program (although there was a 24 hr gap in between). i removed it now and it still popped up one of those msgs...i will try to do what one of the ppl said...about disabling that messenger thing. hopefully it works, its just that i has never happened to me before until i instaleld spybot...and i had read reviews about it being great.
