Meshuggah @ Metro in Chicago, May 13

I just bought tickets to see Meshuggah on May 13th @ the Metro in Chicago with my roommate. They didn't cost too much, even after Ticketmaster's bull charge. It came out to about $17 per ticket.

This will be my 4th time total seeing them.

1: TOOL #1, September 9, 2001
2: Ozzfest 2002
3: TOOL #2, October 21, 2002

Anybody else huge fans or maybe plan on going as well? I personally love them. I've never gone to a show where they were basically the main act so I hope it's even more intense than the other times I've seen them.

If anybody else feels like an AT meet in Chicago, this is the place to do it! 😀

What kind of music do they play?

The Metro is an awesome venue...I've seen 2 Skinnee J's there twice, and both times it was pretty good.

They're a Swedish metal band. I'm not really sure how I would classify them under the metal category. They're to hard metal as TOOL is to whatever category they fit under (read: God).

I agree, the Metro rules for up close and personal performances 🙂

I can't wait. I as silvers roommate will also be attending. They are swedish metal though they have a very unique sound. They are often referred to as the Tool of hard metal but that is simply because they use complex timing and have that off beat yet catchy if you listen to it enough kind of sound. I highly recommend that you all check them out and to not be turned off the second you hear them. They are one of those bands that seem to suck at first but once you become more familiar they are incredibly talented. Songs I recommend are:

Future Breed Machine ( off of the Destroy Erase Improve album) *my favorite
New Millennium Cyanide Christ ( off the Chaos Sphere album) *Silvers favorite

As for the Metro. It is definatly my favorite place to see a band. Ive seen a few shows there and they always are the best. It is so small yet not cramped and the acoustics are good. Plus if you aren't in the mood to get pummled in a pit there is always the balcony though why would you ever feel that way?

One of my friends had tickets to see Smashing Pumpkins in their last concert there. He said people were walking up and down the line, offering him a thousand dollars a ticket to see the show.

I say them at metalfest years and years ago ... they were a great band then and they still are. Unfortunatly I have to work on the 13th.
Enjoy the show

I saw them last summer here in iowa and they were fvcking awesome. They have been my favorite band for probably over 2 years now, after that show I chilled by the buses and talked to jens and marten for a good hour or so, they're some really cool guys, it was awesome to sit there and talk about music sh-t with them 😀

I would go but chicago is a 3 hour drive, and I hate driving/parking/etc in chicago - plus I don't think I know anyone else that would want to go.

BTW, I'd say my favorite song is probably "The mouth licking what you've bled", just because it's the heaviest and most insane song they've made imo (except war - but that song is too fake to count), but it's hard to even pick a favorite when they honestly have never made a single bad song.
