They're not as good as leather but they are a lot better than nothing. I've heard decent reviews about the Joe Rocket mesh jackets. They definitely are a lot cooler on a hot day than leather.

I have a Belstaff jacket and Joe Rocket (JR) Ballistic 7.0 pants i wear in cool weather.
I have JR Phoenix 2.0 pants and 4.0 Jacket.
In a slide they better than shorts and a tank top :)

I feel much better riding with the mesh compared to nothing when its hot. (well Jeans gloves boots Tshirt.. no noodies :) )
And when you are moving the mesh really lets a lot of air thru.. so much so that it is very close to being nude :)
plus it adds protection from the blazing sun ..no worry about sun screen or skin cancer.
will never ride naked again.

as it is said. Dress for the slide, dont dress for the ride. and i would rather sweat than bleed.

i have seen the pix of road rash and read the stories. having all the road grit washed out of your raw burned
skin with a brillo pad is not my idea of a fun weekend :)

By all accounts (crash reports on the net and in magazines) they are just as good as leather for one time use, and if you live in hot climates a must have.
