I've never had a surround sound system befor, only stereo speakers, so I had to go all out this year :)

The fron left and right speakers sound great, and so does the sub. Only problem is I can't get the center channel to work, or the rear speakers!

First I tried getting the fronts, and rears to work without the center channel on my Sound Blaster Live! (I know I need this to be upgraded soon!)

That didn't work, only the front speakers worked. I know the rear speakers physically work, because I plugged them into the stereo 1 output and they worked just fine.

So I decided to try my onboard (don't laugh) audio. I have an Abit KD7 so the onboard audio is some via junk, called vinyl or something. It does have 5.1 sound though, so I figured what the heck I'll atleast use it for today so I can get the surround sound out of these bad boys. Wrong! No matter what I do with settings/drivers/updates, I can't get the center channel, or the rear speakers to work. Please someone help!

System specs: Win2000, Athlonxp @ 2.333ghz, 512meg DDR, Radeon 9800 pro.

Thanks,
Frost

Yeah I did :( No luck though. I read it before I plugged them in (which was hard because I was pretty excited about them and didn't want to wait)

This may sound stupid, but did you use a surround sound source? Regular music will often come out only the usual "stereo" way unless you change certain settings. Also, some soundcards and ESPECIALLY onboard sound first need to be switched to 5.1 (otherwise they are set to line in or headphone out for the other two inputs).
Check in the control panel for your sound card helper program, like "Sound Effect Manager" for AC97 motherboard sound. Set it to 5.1. Then use a DVD program that downsamples AC3 to 5.1 output (in the audio settings) and try again.

Good luck

I assume you made sure you have 5.1 enabled under Windows? Cuz that sounds as if you only have stereo enabled atm.
