The term, split-tail, is used by the previous generation of sailors to describe an attractive female. This term has gone out of use since females have been allowed on warships but can still sometimes be heard on ships where females are not allowed, such as submarines.

I first heard this term while standing topside on my boat (submarine), moored to the pier down in some tropical island that I now forget. We were watching the crew of a surface warship moored to the pier next to us about 3/4 of a mile away. The crew were all dressed in coveralls and hard to distinguish. At one point, a grizzled mechanic senior chief (E-8) mentioned, "That's a split-tail.". We were surprised to see a female assigned to a warship and at that point, had not seen a female for months. It was quite a nice surprise.
