I was attempting to assist a client with moving her files from one Mac to another and the merge feature in Lion isn't working right or I'm not doing something right. I copied her documents, desktop, music, pictures, etc folders from the users directory on her old system and attempted to drop them into the users folder on her new system hoping the merge process would avoid dupes and lost data. When i attempt to do this it tells me it can not delete a system folder and stops. This happens whether the data is on an external source or the local hard drive. Am I missing something or is this a flaw?
