Ok this has to be the underdog stealth hit game of the year...
I was skeptical of the good previews becasue of Lucas Arts past record...
but let me say.. pandemic hit this out outa the park...

isnt pandemic one of the companies that had soemthing to do with the fallout series?

anyway..
think of an Open world... where you are a mercenary in Korea... you are playing the 3 factions in the area agasint each other... China/NATO/S Korea you can take missions from any of the 3 factions. the objective is to get info on 52 international war criminals that are running the North Korean army..
and either KILL or capture them for thier bounties...

this is not scripted at all you can choose how and what you do.. and what methods to kill or blow to hell your enemies... all have factions that are affecetd by your actions.. ie take a mission from NATO that involves doing bad things to Chinese ops..a nd china will change to hostile on you... same goes for all actions agasint any faction except NK.. who you are always at war with...
throw in another faction... the Soviet Mafia.. and things get downright interesting fast...

ANY vehicle in the game can be used just like GTA.. you can hijack/commandeer helocopters... tanks jeeps AA vehicles... you name it just like GTA... while you are driving that veheicle you take on that factions disguise enabling you to drive into hostile territories until spotted by an officer or you get out of vehicle...

very very cool game.. great playability and great voice acting and music... really nice grafics on Xbox cannot comment on PS2...
 
I agree. I just picked it up yesterday. You can also blow up/destroy pretty much everything, including buildings, with various airstrikes and artillery. Very interesting game! 🙂

Do not think its going to go to PC.. it has not been announced as doing so...
will prolly stay on the consoles... great game though...
 
I think a game like this is bound to show up on PC sooner or later. Its gotten rave reviews and good word of mouth from lots of gamers already. Guess its the first hit of the year. Looks like good fun and I think I may just get the xbox version as I'm in the mood for something new.
 
raystorm: You wouldn't be disappointed with the Xbox version. It looks very nice visually (especially at 480p) and maintains a high frame rate.

I've always been a PC-only-gamer, but received an Xbox as a Christmas gift. I'm very impressed with Mercenaries. 🙂

there is a all items from the Webpage cheat....
it gives this drop called the cheat box... it still costs 1 million dollars though....
but it comes with a toy called the pocket artillery and personal airstrike weapon...

the artillery is a pistol that fires artillery shells..
the pocket airstrike is an RPG that launches the Bombs from the B52... freaking fun as hell...
didnt save but i went on a total rampage...

Im reading some great stuff about this game, I LOVE open-ended games and games that focus on destruction....this one has both. Now the quetsion is do I want to part with $40 for this game? maybe I can return the useless games that are collecting dust and get some credit towards this title
 
been playing this for a few weeks... I gotta agree (as do the Gamespot reviews) that this is an AWESOME game.

Funny that there are still so few maps available out there for "cheating". I just got into the North area which is halfway through.
 
I only played this game for about 2 nights, and absolutly hated it...

This is how I felt the game was :

Drive for 5 minutes, do a 2 minute mission. Drive for 5 minutes, get mission... Drive for 5 minutes, 2 minute mission. Drive for 5 minutes, get mission. etc. etc. etc.

Very boring to me.

hehe your supposed to blow everything and every body up man!!

dont just drive there.. i hijack tanks helcopters.trucks you name it.. kill all 4 sides and plot them agaisnt each other.. lots of money/skill challeneges (like rampages etc in GTA)
great fun specially when ya in the mood to... BLOW SH!T UP!! lol love it...
