Mercedes Benz vs. BMW

I have $30,000 max to spend on a new vehicle. I've decided to choose between the Mercedes-Benz E series and the BMW 300 or 500 series.

Is there any opinions you guys wanted to throw in? personally, I'm feeling the bmw's a lot more. Especially the 535i

you gonna want to go with the 5 series the e series is nice but its repairs are much more costly. thought you do have to be carefull the twin turbo I6 has fuel pump and direct injection issues make sure you get a certifed anything. either the MB or BMW 100k warrantys are nice

535 with how many miles? 28k is low.

anyway I'm a BMW owner with no MB experience, so I can't say. I do know I love my 335 though.

Those two were also my final candidates for my car shopping looking for a sedan/crossover replacement for my G37 coupe. At the end, I chose EX35 as I got far superior deal over the others, but those two were very close.

As a driver who came from E90 325i and G37 Coupe, I definitely liked 528/535 more. It was a better combination of luxury and driving than E350, which was too much towards luxury for my favor. Also, as a 29-year-old Korean who looks like 20-year-old college kid (Yes, I am always asked which school I am going to. lol), I couldn't imagine myself driving E class just yet. lol

Hi Nahtzee, I think you have to choose BMW because BMW car company is strongly doing well and grabbing day by day the popularity. The BMW 300 is better than Mercedes-Benz.

Have you gone for a test drive? I was deciding between a C or a 3 series for my last car.

It was obvious after the test drive which one I wanted.

E350 is a fantastic car and much better looking than the older 5 series. The new 5 series looks fantastic but new it's going to be way out of your price range.

If you want comfort, luxury and class then get the Mercedes. If you want a more engaging driving experience then get the BMW.

BMW. Hands down. Try to spring for a new 2013 328i. People are loving it.

Otherwise, get a used 335i or 535i.

I had Merc's for years a 190E 2.5 16v, a C43 and an E320 but switched to BMW and the 330D when fuel prices got really bad here. Currently rocking a 535D. All I would say is Merc build quality compared to 15 years ago is SHOCKING. The accountants must have been scrimping on everything. My neighbour has a newish ML 320 and an A180 and they both have been plagued with issues.

My bro in law has a C220 Diesel, nearly new, also plagued with issues. Three recent Mercs...the only Mercs people I known own...and all plagued with faults.

Base is $36,500; so it is out of his price range. But a well equipped lease is only $399/mo.

yeah but also gotta think about new car financing is usually better then used not to mention first 3 years maintance paid for. and a CPO is usually damn near 30k. he might be better off new. but then again if a lease can work for him they are a great way to get a good car cheaper.

With only a $30,000 budget and wanting a new car, neither brand will work for you. The base C class and 3 series are well over 30k new.

Unless you meant new as in "new to me" car.
