Odd, my work filter blocks the site (it says it has "pornography"). 😕 I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Just got back from the C-Spot in Jersey. Had a great time, lines weren't that long, food was great (was expecting some cookies, they had steak, chicken rolls, sushi and all this other good stuff). Way better than I expected =D.

Went to the chicago one yesterday 🙂

went there @ 9:30 and stayed until 3:30 😀

there were 2 tracks.

1 track that you drive by yourself and the other where u sit next to the "pro" drivers .

first track was constantly sprayed with water + detergent. I guess it was to keep ppl from going too fast, but it was hella fun. about 30 second course. they didnt care how hard you push the car as long as you dont hit the cones.

fortunatly, there were NOT lot of ppl, so as soon as i would get out of the car, I was able to jump in another empty line and test drive that car. sometimes i was able to just sit in the car and go again since no one was waitin for that car.

I must have went at least 50 times.
It was very fun and imho, best car was 240 coupe kompressor. best handling. but if you want to learn how to drift, maybe the wagon will do it for u , since its easy to lose traction with rear wheels even with traction control.

Ok, atot ppl, are there any other free-low price test driving sessions like this? I heard about a porsche one and i see the bmw few posts above, but i want more 🙂 thank you.

and if you can goto c-spot meet, make sure you do. you will love it. unless u own m3.. which they will have some BS demonstration on...

does anyone know if this costs anything? I just got my email reminder that it's tomorrow for LA.

It's free, and they have some pretty good food. Not low quality at all. You don't get to drive the C32 AMG's, just ride in them on a pretty hot lap. How fast they go depends on the driver, but I got one ride with a good driver, and it was INTENSE! Going into corners faster than I ever thought possible, and sliding the tail end almost the whole way through. Definitely a fun time.

Well I went today and it was ok. There was a lot of free, good food. The cars OTOH, I'm a mixed bag about. They're built really well, look good and the interior is incredible on some of them, but when it came down to driving the cars, well it wasn't all that.

1st course:

The first car I drove was a C240 and it was like driving a freaking rental car. It floated around, handling and steering was slow and vague and the thing had no balls at all. There were instances where no one wanted to drive the C240s so they pulled them out.

Later I got a C320 and so I start flinging the car and sliding it around, and when I get back, the guy running the stand was like, "you almost spun the car out, do that again and you can only go for rides." I thought I had the car under control but he must not have liked me hammering the car like that. 😀

2nd course:

First car I got was a C230 kompressor coupe. I ease into the course, drove it around, nothing terribly eventful. Next car I got another C320 and I decide to hammer the car again. I pull up to the start and when the guy tells to go ahead, I start brake torquing and the tires spin for a couple feet. 😀 The guy starts yelling at me "Hey, hey!!" and he's like, if you break traction again, we'll take your wrist band. 🙁

3rd course:

This one a professional driver takes you for a ride on an AMG C class. That car is f*cking insane. The car really digs in for turns and it almost seems like it has infinite grip.

At anyrate, disregarding the AMG cars, the performance and handling on the MBs are mediocre by new car standards, IMO the money is basically spent on having a car that looks and feels expensive, but not really fun to drive, not powerful and not much handling.

You guys are gonna hang me for saying this, but I think I'd rather drive around a stick corolla for fun than any of the non amg auto C class cars. :Q

OS, I agree with you. The handling capabilities and the fit and finish of their cars certainly DO NOT warrant their price tag. Not even the interior of the SL500 impressed me.

The world's perfect car: BMW engine + BMW steering & suspension + MB Supercharger + Audi design + Audi Quattro + Audi interior fit & finish + Lexus build quality and reliability.

I went today too at the hollywood park one. Man, the c32amg hot laps were awesome. I tried 3 drivers, and told the last one to seriously push it. And god was it fun. Reached 100+mph easily, and then let the tail out when exiting all corners. Simply awesome.

hey, OS, i loved the #4 car driver. He really pushed it and lost traction many times. Did you like any one of them over the other.

I don't remember who I rode with, I was more interested in driving myself than being driven around. 😀 Unfortunately the MB guys cracked down whenever I started actually having fun. 🙁

I do happen to have a picture of car #4 though 😀
