Mercedes-Benz Approves the New CLS-Class for Production

Boy, once MB got infused with Chrysler, they really messed up their reliability

I was drivin down the road one day like 2 weeks ago and this guy's MB sedan was on fire. He just drove it home from the dealer 30 mins ago (new). He came out cuz of the smell, and the wires under the hood smoldered and up it went!

Luckily we were able to help the older gent move the car away from the corner of his house so that didn't go up, too!

So... this one event that you were able to observe suddenly becomes the microcosm of MBZ's reliability?

I just watched Top Gear on the BBC a few hours ago and they had the results from their own big customer satisfaction survey. MB really REALLY scored badly. Top Gear survey

(off topic: they raced a Saab against a Harrier jet in that episode 😀) Saab vs Harrier jet

Top Gear Quote

We got a bit tired of Saab claiming that their cars were a bit like aircraft. So we put the 95 up against a Sea Harrier, which actually is an aircraft.

Well, their reliability has gone in the sh!tter in recent years

This is one shape that will take some time to grow on me, specially the back.
What is it with manufacturer's getting tired by the time they reach the design of the back. A lot of cars are coming out with backs that look like sh!t these days.

wow the design is beautiful,
too bad the sedanized the original sketches, the concept drawing seemed much more sporty.
The interior is incredible

Exterior = butt ugly imo. I saw a CL600 in San Fran once... i'd rather have one of those, no matter how much faster/technologically advanced the CLS is 🙂

Nope, but thanks for playing!

The current (2004) E500 has a 7 speed auto, so it's not really new for the CLS. In fact, it as 2 reverse gears. Hehe.
