What did the email say? The site has been talking about their going out of business sale for a week but I haven't really seen any hot deals yet.

Correct, not many hot deals. And why would there be? Mercata didn't
carry much (if any) inventory. They acted as a middle man to
other businesses. Nothing to clear out...

This is unlike, say, eToys, who have four huge warehouses and if
they go under (from what I hear lately perhaps when not if), there'll
be a lot to sell off (either to consumers or to jobbers).

Unfortunately, on January 31, Mercata will close its doors. But what this means to you is closeout prices on nearly everything in the store. Yeah, there's nothing like buying a $250 DVD player, getting it home, finding out it doesn't work, and not being able to return it.

I have purchased product from mercata in the past. I did it once actually. They just brokered the product. The actual product dealer shipped a DVD player in the manufacturers box via UPS ground... Hmmm
= one broke DVD player. Who knows how your product will be shipped and if they will back up damaged goods- or just leave you to duke it out with UPS- Ha! More often than not you get what you pay for, but with Mercata I found that they threw in the aggravation for free. Caveat Emptor

Kwad Guy you are more right that you even know about EToys. Please call 310-998-6005 for more information (a local call if you are in LA, which I gather many are). If that's not a fancy way of saying "Chapter 7! Chapter 7!", I don't know what is.
