Professor Kefah Mokbel at London's St George's and Princess Grace hospitals has seen a doubling in requests and is now treating 150 men a year.

Gynaecomastia is not a new phenomenon, but it would appear anecdotally that the rates are rising.

It is different from the flabby breast tissue that goes hand in hand with obesity in men.

In gynaecomastia there is glandular breast tissue as well as fatty tissue.

Some experts believe it may be down to female hormones leaking into the environment.

Interesting, I've noticed a huge number of guys lately that seem to have man boobs, I even have a very minor case myself, but that might be more due to being a bit overweight (245lbs, 6'3")

Press on your nipples, what do you feel?

If you feel little bumps it's not fat and you need surgery.

is this why young girls are developing so much earlier? because of these increased hormones?

I had this surgury done.. on one nipple. There was a small growth behind it and it looked somewhat abnormal. Insurance paid for it because sometimes they can develop into tumors. It really didn't look that bad, though. Girls didn't notice it.. only the guys on my soccer team - and then they'd try to give me t!tty twisters - but I clearly showed them that wasn't a good idea.

My doctor said that maybe all my soccer playing was what caused it.. since you get hit in the chest quite a bit playing soccer and that could have irritated it during puberty.

i believe this to be true. There are horomones in milk and things like that. what else can make girls that are 8,9,10 develop so fast? I feel bad for girls like this. they may look like adults but they still have the mentality of children and that can cause big problems.

I am not much older but i didnt start developing until i was in my early teens. it has to be something in the water... literally

i have read about this and it's quite feasible. it would also explain why girls are going through puberty earlier and earlier and why sperm counts are down.

I've got plenty of sperm if you're suffering from withdrawls...

anecdotally

anecdotally

anecdotally

Let me say that again:

anecdotally

Folks, doctors are seeing more of this, because they have better treatments and education surrounding the condition is more widely disseminated. Also, there is less shame surrounding it, meaning more men will seek treatment.

This article in NO WAY say the rates are increasing. Only that the rate of men seeking treatment is increasing.

HUGE DIFFERENCE.
