NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island police say two suspects picked the wrong pizza delivery guy to rob: an undercover police officer.
The Providence Journal reports that a 30-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in Newport on Tuesday night. Police say one of the suspects had a BB gun in his waistband.
Two delivery drivers had been robbed in the same area earlier this month. Police had asked restaurants to report any orders they received for the neighborhood.
The Newport Daily News reports that A-1 Pizza received the call Tuesday and notified police. A plainclothes officer drove an unmarked police car with a pizzeria sign mounted on its roof. Two other officers hid in the backseat.
Lt. William Fitzgerald says the suspects were "quite shocked" to discover the delivery man was a cop.

What would you get out of robbing a pizza guy? $20 and a couple of large pizzas? Hardly seems worth it.

An easy target in the wrong neighborhood. Pizza places aren't going to make as much fuss over a couple of lost pies and $20 as long as their drivers aren't hurt. The bad guys get a free meal and a few bucks to blow.

I certainly hope the cops honored the Pizza chain guarantee of promp delivery, but I suspect some poor smuck got his pizza delivery late.

When they say bookum Dano, you know the pizza will be late. The two extranious and useless cops in the back seat should fufill the the on time delivery.

I'm pretty sure it was the perps who called in the delivery...

Wasn't there a poster here that got mugged while delivering pizzas? Shit happens, especially in shitty neighborhoods, and people have robbed others for less.
