Memtest86: What is an acceptable amount of errors for RAM to have?

I'm running memtest86 from a fedora core dvd and I'm upset at the results. I recently built a AMD64 system with an Nforce SLI (Asus A8N deluxe) and two sticks of *used* 512mb Twinmos 2.5cas memory configured in dual channel operation.

Summarised results from test (errors after one pass):-

Test 0 = 0
Test 1 = 0
Test 2 = 1
Test 3 = 6
Test 4 = 8
Test 5 = 45
Test 6 = 1
Test 7 = 16
Test 8 = 1
Test 9 = 0
Test 10 = 0

Is it difficult to get a perfect score on memtest86?
Are there some tweaks I can do to the system to reduce the amount of errors?
Should I return the memory and get some new stuff?
Does RAM start to chuck up more errors with age?

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, 0. Also try running the new Memtest which is not Memtest86. It's like Memtest 1.65 I believe. It isn't impossible to get a perfect score or no errors with Memtest. I've done it with the rig in my signature for over twelve hours. I've done it at work on more than on occassion using client's computers as well.

Thanks for the replies.

The memory is running at stock speeds, should I get some new RAM?

Can anyone answer the other questions I have?

Anything over zero is bad. If the speed is right (like ddr400 at ddr400 not at ddr 433) then you can try to relax the timings in the BIOS till its OK.

is the momory set to SPD or AUTO in the BIOS? what volts are you pushing at the RAM?

ribbon13: Thanks for that, I completely forgot about the warranty option

CrispyFried: I'm haven't tried any overclocking, I haven't tweaked with the BIOS so I assume it is running at the normal voltages, I'll check though

The RAM is DDR400 running at DDR400.
