One stick of 256MP PC2100 PNY. Running Windows XP Professional.

I suspected that my memory was having problems because two Windows programs had memory exceptions (read failure at the same memory address). The two program that always have the same memory error is PowerVCRII and AOL AIM. AIM usually works fine on the 2nd loading and always on the 3rd. I then used MemTest86+ v1.20 for testing.

At startup, the program tests using default mode. The first and fourth tests went fine, and I suspect the others as well although I will let it continue until maybe 6 loops are finished. I then changed the test to "All Tests" and Memory Sizing to "Probe" and to test all memory. That didn't give any error either. However, when I chose "BIOS-All" for Memory Sizing, I get immediately all kinds of memory errors.

I'm also running Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic and so far there's no error. Also tried switching the slot, but same results.

So I'm not sure whether my memory is bad or not. What's the optimal configuration for testing memory?
