Memtest86 reboots my computer

Hello, building my i5-750 system with this ram:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231276
on an ASUS P7P55D-E Pro motherboard.

Running Memtest86 v3.5 causes my computer to reboot. It gets about 7% on the first test and then it reboots. I disabled usb legacy support because I read somewhere that it might be the cause but that did not work.

It reboots at the default bios timings which it thought it was 9-9-9-24, and it also reboots when I set it to 7-7-7-21 which is what its spec to be.

I ran 6 hrs of prime95 for 6 hours already and no errors.

Any ideas whats going on?

Thanks

take some of the ram out and try again? are you running the single processor or multiprocessor version?

i guess it was the version. i tested it on each individually and they both passed. Then I tried it again on v4 and its running now.

Thanks!

MemTest86 did a better job finding memory defects. 😉

I buy only OEM modules, made by the companies that actually manufacture their own RAM chips. This lets me avoid dealing with the mysteries of generic UTT chips that weren't good enough to make the final cut.

Could you tell me who those companies are?
