Memtest86 question.

I ran the memtest86 today. Its 2 x 256mb Samsung Pc2700. Its running under spec since I am at 156 fsb at 1:1 ratio. I got lots of errors on test 6 (got like 8 errors). Is this normal? I got the 2 sticks from a fellow anandtech member so if its not normal I need to contact him.

Thanks

UPDATE: I drop the fsb to 133 and the errors went away. Let me try to rasie the voltage on the CPU Vcore.

The timing is at 2.5-7-3-3. The slowest in the bios.

Thanks Champ for the advice.
I actually up the Cpu Vcore to 1.6v and the errors went away.
Ran 5 loops without any errors. Before I get an error on first or second test.

cool
i didnt know, nor did i much care, waht it tested
just if it didnt pass that and prime95 and 3dmark, i need to up voltage to something or lower my oc
😀

good to know it worked out

btw, damn nice intel system Jgtdragon 😉 🙂

yea m86 is good for alot more then just memtesting.

on my current system ~ m86 caught cpu cache errors (@ 168fsb) in minutes that prime95 did not catch for hours!

<EDIT> there is an option to run "CPU CACHE ON" for all tests (not just a few)

(yes instead of doing a response on "the outsider" aka "the stranger" im on anandtech....hehe 😉 😀 😎 )

thx
i thought i was going crazy!
lol
j.k

pretty much if it fails at ANY test....better rethink ocing

try enabling cpu cache for all tests....if it fails more tests, it might be cpu cache (therefore cpu error, therefore lower cpu oc or give more voltage)
