Memtest86 doesnt report errors, but hangs?

I have been trying to run memtest86 on my rig: p4p800, 512 crucial pc3200, 2.53 p4, etc. If i run the memory at ddr266 or ddr333 (the only options) i dont get any errors as long as my timings arent set to high. However, i have yet to finish the basic test suite. It just locks up - the time counter stops, and the test does too. What is the deal? This rig is starting to really piss me off, to the point where i wonder if dual channel ddr was the right choice for me.

thanks,

Go into your BIOS and make sure that "USB Legacy Support" is disabled. This is one thing that sometimes locks up Memtest86 if it's enabled.

What brand and type of RAM are you using?

hey, thanks! disabling usb legacy support allowed memtest to finish without errors 🙂

Im using crucial pc3200, like i previously mentioned..
