memtest86 and kingston hyper x

i just bought a new system: p4 2.6c, 1 gig kingston hyper x pc3500, and abit ic7 mobo.

i was overclocking in small increments and each time i would run memtest86, and i would always get errors no matter if i overclocked a little or a lot. it's very frustrating. the onle time memtest does not produce errors is when i am running my system nonoverclocked. does my ram not have the capability to overclock at all? the weird thing is that i can get into windows and play games fine during an overclock. in fact i got up to 3.2 GHz. just when i thought all was fine, memtest just ruined my day:frown:

are you just adjusting the fsb or are you changing the timings as well? you might have to relax your timings to OC.

hi, thanks for the reply.

i am running my memory @ stock speeds - 2-3-3-7 as recommended. yes, i am adjusting my FSB and using the 5:4 divider. i also tried increasing the voltage as well. it seems like nothing works. should i adjust the timings on my ram?

The problem is you have ch-5 memory which will not go very far
I have the same ram except 2x256mb pc3500 and it can't go beyond 225 fsb and I dont know if its even stable.
