Memtest question..

I'm trying to make a bootable CDRom of Memtest. I've downloaded the 3.2 version and 3.1a version. When I extra it and click the IMG file, it opens with DVD Decrypter and gives me an error "Invalid or unsupported image file format!" .. am I doing something wrong?

youve got to use nero or easy cd creator to burn the image file contained in the zip file you download. Then you just put it in your drive, and boot off the disk.

You mean in the ISO file? I download the zip file... and there's an ISO file. Then I extra the ISO file to get the IMG file.

Didn't work with Nero. I set boot device priority for the CD first, it just booted into windows like there was no CD in there.

I use CDBurner XP (free and awesome program) and all you do is select create disc from image, point it to the ISO and it will do the rest for you pretty much. That's how I got my Memtest running.

Instead of clicking on the file, open it with the burner of your choice...File>Open.

I did that with Decrypter, got the same error. That's also how I did it with Nero... no go.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks

Hey Crakajax, Nero should definately work, you just need to find the "burn from disc image" option, and then find the iso file (you dont need to further extract file once you have the iso) You might need to change the type of file nero is looking for.

Hmm... that's probably why. I was extracting the ISO file too. I'm burning it right now, gonna reboot and see if it works. Thanks.

I manage to follow the instruction to a point where I get a bootable CD---using either nero or boot cd xp.---using the 39kb 3.2 zip image.

But then my computer boots as follows when using the bootable CD created.

Starting caldera Dr. Dos
EMM 386 3.27 followed by copyright dates.
Emm 386 warning address line A20 already enabled
Frame D0000 KB=

At which point everything just hangs---nor will the keyboard allow any inputs past that point.

The bootable cd's are being created on two different computer but are being using to boot just one XP Pro system.

Do any have some insight for me?
