MemTest Errors.. Help... Thx..

I have a pair of 512mb BH-6 from OCZ and I ran MemTest on stock voltage (I used default from mobo) and stock timing (2-2-2-7) also 2-2-2-11. By the way, my mobo is 8rda+ rev 2.1.
Whenever I run the test, I always get errors in Test#5.... I mean, is this normal.....?

Thx

Diamond Member - duplicate posts! Tsk, tsk. And both off topic for the sections they are in...

Not normal. You either have bad material, or you have pushed the timings over the edge. Run them at the slowest timings you can come up with, and if still no go, they're bad.

Remember that most of those ridiculous-speed DIMMs only achieve their rated speed with a raised voltage.

j@cko, memtest86 errors are not normal and not acceptable. Errors mean that your motherboard + memory combination does not result in acceptable stability, so try notching things more conservative. No errors does not mean that you are perfectly stable (just you aren't seeing any now), but it's a major step in the right direction. I always consider a run of memtest86 overnight to be a good acceptance test of motherboard + memory combinations.

Peter nailed it - voltage is a major issue these days. And/or try making your timings less aggressive.

My understanding from an article on that hardware site we don't talk about around here is that the Athlon platform is not highly sensitive to memory performance for overall performance, so if you have to notch down a timing, not a big deal. The P4 platform is more sensitive to memory performance.
