memtest and prime95

i got prime95, and I tried to run it...but the computer is almost unusable during that time. understandable. I have a 3.0c P4. But it took like forever to get it to stop (try to click stop from the menu). Also, after it stopped, it was still slow for some reason. The cpu usage went down to almost 0. But the computer was acting the same as when prime95 was running. I just had to externally restart it. Whats up with that?

Where can i get memtest...the "official" memtest. google gives me like 4 different benchmarking software, whats the one people use here?

For that slowness problem, you probably didn't close Prime95 properly. I don't know where to get memtest.

after closing prime 95 try pressing F5 a couple of times .. it refreshes windows but i dont know if it would work in you situation

Thats odd, unless you were running 2 instances it shouldn't have mae you system so sluggish. Are you sure you have hyperthreading enabled?

yeah...do have HT enabled. I just tried the new version that 'krose' pointed out, and that works fine. It wasnt sluggish at all.
Thanks krose.
