Some friends and I are considering a trip to Memphis. Aside from Graceland, what woul you recommend we do/see while in town?

We had been likely planning the trip for May, but I see the Memphis in May celebration goes all month. What does this do to hotel prices, etc. during May? Is it something to try to avoid?

Are there any other times to avoid?

Thanks!

Former resident. Great place to visit, but awful place to live. Check out the Civil Rights Museum, Beale Street, a chicken place called Gus's (not too late at night), Sun studios. Have fun!

May is a busy time in Memphis.

Memphis in May is a month long festival held in Memphis, Tennessee. The festival itself is split into four main events: The Beale Street Music Festival, the kick-off event which showcases a mix of local and national music acts, International Week, a group of events dedicated to the country that is sponsored that year, The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, one of the most popular barbecue contests in the country, and the Sunset Symphony, a night of classical music.

Do a seach for Memphis in May. The weekend of the Music Festival would be a good time to go Memphis.

Beale Street is fun.

Nice casinos in Tunica, MS just south of Memphis.
