Win 2k or XP, which is better @ memory management? Can anyone give me a link where this has already been discussed in detail?

Thanks

My guess would be Windows XP. It would be a evolutionary difference...

You see Windows 2000 and Windows XP are the same operating system. Windows 2000 was something like NT 5.0 and Windows XP is like NT 5.1.

It would be about the same as going from MSDos 6.0 to MSDos 6.22

Just with slightly different user interface and such. And since Windows XP was released after Windows 2000 then Microsoft had time to fine tune the memory management among other things.

That is my edumajated guess.

then why is Win2K faster with 256MB that WinXP? If WinXP is more efficent then it should be faster with 256MB..right?

Not if Windows XP uses more memory to run itself by default.

How efficient/well of a memory managment sceme doesn't realy matter much to performance from application bloat.

Take Windows 95 for instance. It has a small memory footprint to run, but it's memory managment sceme is completely @SS and completely inefficient.. even back when it was released.
